Social Media

As some of you know my American mother is a volunteer with AFS in America. She recently posted this article to a group we're a part of. The article was about how Facebook and all that ish is making it harder for people to immerse themselves in their new life. It talked about how in the old days they used snail mail and one or two phone calls. This got me thinking about how it's been affecting me. After a whole day of thought, I decided I needed some limits. But here's the thing. I am really bad at setting them it's either I will be on the social media whenever I want or not at all. So I texted my mom.

She said that what I should do is limit myself to one hour on one day a week. I was like okay. I can do that. But then I realized that I have a lot of friends and stuff on Facebook and Instagram. I've been really conflicted. So, to put everything in writing and make it official her is the plan.

1. I will be blogging regularly. And I'll use the same Corie in Egypt page on Facebook so all that will be the same.

2. I will be logged off of all "American accounts" basically all the time except for an hour (ish) on Sundays.

3. I will be making a new account for Egypt purposes only. I also got whatsapp and all that is chill.

So basically if you do not currently reside in Egypt you'll hear from me on my blog and possibly letters via snail mail.

Exceptions: important birthdays that I remember (mostly family) and emergencies.

Also, after school on week days nothing really happens. And I've been thinking about what am I gonna do without social media. Well, today during breakfast (morning break) this girl came in and talked about Model UN!! Ahhh. For those of you who don't know (which might be all of you) I want to work for the UN when I grow up. Also I took a Model UN class through CTY during the summer after sixth grade, which prompted me to learn Arabic, which ultimately led me here. I asked if I had to know Arabic to participate and she said that the classes and conferences are all in English. I'm really really happy. So I applied. And once that's all over hopefully I'll be an Egyptian Model UN person. This'll make me friends and give me something to focus my energy on and it'll be good. So yeah.

I just thought I'd let y'all know the deal in case any of you were gonna be worried. Officially saying bye America. (It only two months. Way to go, Corie)
