Bridging Cultures Scholarship

A perk of living in the San Francisco is that the volunteers in our AFS community have raised a lot of money to help many students go abroad. This year I was lucky enough to receive a partial scholarship of $1,000. All I had to do was make a video describing the goals of my journey abroad. Here's what I came up with:

I'm really proud of this video and what some markers, paper, and lots and lots of pictures can come together to make.

Salaam,
Corie  :)

The Beginning

When I was six-years-old, this girl from Thailand came to stay with us through an organization known as AFS. Since then, my mother has worn many hats volunteering for them. Nine years and four and a half exchange students later, here I am. Fifteen years old, a sophomore, and about to embark on the greatest adventure one could only dream of. About 73 days, 10 hours, 15 minutes and 9 seconds from now, I will be boarding a plane to New York. Then from  New York I will be traveling to Egypt. I don’t know where in Egypt and I haven’t been paired with a host family yet, but it’s still happening (…finally). I have no knowledge of who I will meet, where I will go, or what I will do. All that is still to come. But instead of having twenty (maybe ten) people asking me the same six questions over and over, I will be tracking all of (or most of) my experience here at abroad-outlook.blogspot.com. So yeah…enjoy. More about AFS.
